Full Text

Joseph E. Filce died on Sunday afternoon at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness, in his 62nd year.

He was born at Croydon, England, and came to Canada about 41 years ago. A veteran of World War I, he went overseas with the First Contingent, and, following the war, returned to Canada and settled in Beamsville.

After several years at other employment he joined the staff of Brown's Bakery in 1926 and continued with this work until 4 years ago when he became assistant caretaker at Beamsville High School.

The late Mr. Filce was a member of St. Alban's Church, Ivy Lodge, the Firemen's Association, and the Athletic Association. It was with the Athletic Association, and the boys of the softball team, that he loved to spend his time.

He is survived by his widow, the former Anne Turner; one son, Albert, two granddaughters here, and one brother and three sisters in Croydon, England.
