Suffering a seizure at his home 50 Robinson Street North, on Saturday, William J. Smith, a resident of Grimsby for 23 years, passed away.
Deceased was born in Toronto 68 years ago. For some years he had been a valued employee of the United Distillers. He was a member of the local Loyal Orange Lodge, members of which conducted services at Stonehouse Funeral Home on Monday evening and as casket bearers at the funeral on Tuesday afternoon which was conducted by Rev. E.A.Brooks.
He is survived by his wife, the former Amy Russell, two sons, Russell of Grimsby and Alex of Hamilton; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Slaght of Grimsby and Mrs. Angus Clarke of Port Arthur; three brothers and one sister: Percy, James and Charles, and Mrs. W. Denny, all of Orangeville; also 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Interment was in Queen's Lawn Cemetery.
Casket bearers were: E. Jacobs, M. Blanchard, H. Hysert, C. Faul, Tom Ball and Mike Sweet.
