Andrew Cloughley, for many years a cement work contractor in Grimsby, died suddenly last Wednesday evening a few minutes after walking into the home of his brother, David Cloughley.
In his 71st year, he was born in Ireland, and, when four years of age, came with his parents, the late John and Mary Cloughley, to Stoney Creek. He moved to Grimsby 46 years ago. Failing health had forced him to retire from active work a few years ago.
He was an elder of Trinity United Church and had acted on many of the boards of that congregation. His wife, the former Minnie Moore of Winona, predeceased him five years ago.
Surviving are four brothers and three sisters: John, of Buffalo; James, in Florida; Frank, of Hamilton; David, of Grimsby; Mrs. E. Brockbank, in England; Mrs. Percy Teeter, Simcoe; and Mrs. R. Teeters, in California.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R.K. Lemkay in Trinity United Church on Saturday afternoon. Interment was in Queen's Lawn Cemetery.
Casket bearers were all Elders of Trinity United Church, being Messrs. Gordon Hilts, Wm. McNiven, Richard Theal, Herbert Betzner, Vernon Tuck and Emery Patterson. Other members of the Session Board of Trinity United were honorary bearers.
