One of Burlington's most familiar figures and the town's champion walker, Mrs. Jessie Hamilton Dick, died last Tuesday at her residence on Brant Street, at the age of 89.
Mrs. Dick rarely missed her regular exercise in the open air and almost till the time of her death covered considerable distances each day. In summer, she was to be seen almost daily along the lake front, sitting on the benches and enjoying a chat with one of her many friends.
Born in Saltcoats, Ayrshire, Scotland, she came to Canada as a young woman, and her bright cheery disposition and her broad brogue distinguished her as a friendly and good citizen.
Predeceased by her husband, Mr. David Dick, some years ago, she was a member and faithful attendant of Trinity United Church, Burlington,
Mrs. Dick is survived by 4 sons, David L., of Caledonia; John H., of Grimsby; Robert H., and Hugh H., of Toronto; one daughter, Mrs. Walter Cooper, of Burlington; 16 grandchildren, two of whom died in the last war, James Dick and David Cooper; and 11 great grandchildren.
