Full Text

News has been received from Bermuda of the death of Miss Emily Turton, who passed peacefully away in hospital on Monday night, Nov. 12th, after a lengthy illness.

Miss Turton will be remembered by many as the manageress of the Jarvis Bakery Store on Main St. from 1922 to 1929. In the latter year she moved to Bermuda at the invitation of Mr. C.I. Burland to take a position in his store. After two and a half years she left to act as hostess in The Goody Shop Restaurant, where she remained for 13 years. Owing to ill health she resigned and for two and a half years was engaged in office work. Her health continuing to decline, she remained at home for another two and a half years until her death.

She leaves to mourn her loss 3 brothers and one sister in England, and one sister and a brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Dawson, at Sea Venture Island, North Shore, Pembroke, W. Bermuda, with whom she lived.
