Grimsby Independent 8 November 1951 - Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, October 29th, for R. Ward Brubaker, 22-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Brubaker, R.R. 2, Beamsville, whose sudden death on the previous Friday night in Kitchener came as a great shock to this community. A short service at the J.W. Buck & Son Funeral Home was followed by a service at the United Missionary Church in Vineland, at 2:45 p.m.

Rev. Ward M. Shantz, principal of Emmanuel Bible College, Kitchener, where the deceased was a student in his second year, conducted the service, assisted by Rev. V.K. Snyder and L. Work. During the service a quartet comprising Keith Cole, Howard Backer, Curtis Bender and Eddie Prosser sang "Beautiful Land", and a duet, "My God and I", was rendered by Howard Backer and John Kurtz, accompanied by Mrs. Howard Backer. Several hymns were sung, accompanied by E.L. Snyder.

Interment was made in Vineland Cemetery. Acting as casket bearers were six classmates: Messrs. Howard Backer, John Kurtz, Willard Geiger, George Peck, Curtis Bender, and Eddie Prosser. Many beautiful floral tributes indicated the respect in which the young man was held.

Mr. Brubaker graduated from Beamsville High School in 1949, where he was a popular and well-beloved student, active in all school activities. In his graduating year he was president of the Students' Council, a member of the editorial staff of the student year book, prominent in public speaking, a cheer leader, and a Lieutenant in the Army Cadet Corps. He was a member of the United Missionary Church, Vineland.

He leaves his parents and two brothers, John Edward, at home, and James Ross, at Camp Borden.
