G.S.L. Carpenter, retired divisional manager for the Eastern United States and Canada of the American Fruit Gorwers, died last Friday in West Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Born in Winona, the son of C.W.F. and Etta Carpenter, he received his formal education at local schools and the Ontario Agricultural College. After filling several horticultural positions in Ontario, he took employment with the American Fruit Growers in 1920.

He was a member and past member of both the Maryland and the American Horticultural Society and acted as adviser in his professional capacity to fruit growers throughout Ontario, Nova Scotia and the United States.

Surviving are his wife, the former Marion Kerman; and a son, John D.
