Walter E. Cullingford, of Grimsby, died at the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital on Monday, in his 85th year. He had been a bookkeeper and insurance agent.

Born in Saxmundham, Sussex, England, he had come to Grimsby 41 years ago. He was the son of the late Jehu and Rachel Cullingford. Mr. Cullingford was an active member of the Trinity United Church and for 12 years had been a member of Session and roll clerk. He was choir leader, formerly with St. John's Presbyterian Church and later with Trinity Church, for 27 years. For 22 years he had been a leader in St. George's Presbyterian Mission Church, Croydon, England. He was also Secretary-Treasurer of the Grimsby Horticultural Society for 18 years.

Surviving are his wife, Elsie E. Cullingford, and one daughter, Maisie.

The remains are resting at the Stonehouse Funeral Home, Grimsby, for service in Trinity United Church this Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will be made in Queen's Lawn Cemetery.
