St. Andrew's Church, Grimsby, was the scene of the marriage on Saturday, June 23rd, of Georgina Isabel Hayes, daughter of Mr. Frank Hayes, Montreal, and Ronald William Chivers, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Chivers, Grimsby. Rev. E.A.Brooks officiated.
The bride, gowned in white brocaded satin, with finger-tip veil and Juliet cap, and carrying a white prayer book, was given in marriage by her uncle, Mr. Daniel Bowman, Hamilton.
The bridesmaid was Miss Shirley Bowman of Hamilton, cousin of the bride, who wore an ice green satin gown with matching cap, and she carried yellow roses. Mr. Jas. Johnson, Hamilton, attended the groom, and the ushers were Howard McPherson and Ronald Wicharuk.
Following the reception at the Parish Hall, the groom's parents entertained the bridal party at their home, 21 Patton Street. To receive the guests, the bride's aunt, Mrs. Daniel Bowman, wore a white gabardine suit with black accessories, the groom's mother wearing navy blue sheer with white accessories.
For the wedding trip to the United States the bride chose a blush pink gabardine suit with white corsage, and navy blue accessories.
Attending the wedding were the bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F. Hayes, from Aurora; also guests from Toronto, Dundas, Hamilton, St. Catharines and St. George.
This was a choral wedding. During the service, Mrs. R. Rathbone sang O Perfect Love, and at the signing of the register, the choir rendered "The Voice that Breathed O'er Eden". Mrs. Duncan McIntosh played the wedding music.
