Arthur W. Mason, 73, professor of agronomy at the Ontario agricultural College, Guelph, for 37 years, passed away at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Saturday following an illness of lengthy duration.

Born at Lindsay, he attended Norwich schools, and then assumed duties on the staff at OAC, and was largely responsible for a new variety of oats, known as OAC 72, which is widely acclaimed in Canada today. Retiring from the college in 1944, he and his wife took up residence in Grimsby in 1945, on Nelles Boulevard. His wife predeceased him in 1947.

A life member of Waverly Lodge, Scottish Rite, Guelph, deceased was a member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Grimsby, from where funeral services were conducted on Tuesday afternoon. Interment was made in Woodlawn Mausoleum, at Guelph.
