Full Text

Word was received last week of the sudden death of Mrs. Reginald Clifford of Dower House, Newbury, England. Mrs. Clifford was the only remaining sister of Charles H.K. Baillie, of Hamilton, formerly of Grimsby. As a justice of the peace, her knowledge and sympathy and tolerance had made her a most valuable magistrate, and she excelled in advice and judgment on topics which are exclusively within a woman's sphere.

She was a prolific writer of prose and poetry and gave generously of her time and talents to charitable and other causes in writing plays and music.

He late country residence - the Dower House - an historical 18th century structure, is still in the excellent state of preservation and has, within the last few years, been visited on several occasions by Queen Mary and other members of the Royal Family.
