Citizens of Grimsby and district were greatly shocked on Thursday morning last to learn of the sudden passing in the night of Mrs. William W. Kidd, at her home, 66 Main East.
Mrs. Kidd had been apparently in good health the previous day and evening as she had been down town on Wednesday afternoon and on Wednesday evening had assisted Miss Margaret Allan, with whom she made her home, in doing some preserving.
Born Luella Bella Henry, 75 years old, the daughter of Albert and Lacetta Henry, she had resided in this district practically all her life.
She was a member of Grimsby Baptist Church and for a great many years had been organist for that congregation.
She was predeceased by her husband, Major William W. Kidd, for many years Magistrate in Grimsby, and her only son, Major Ronald H. Kidd.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J.A. Livingston of Toronto; one granddaughter, Mrs. Robert C. Montgomery of Buffalo, and 3 great-grandsons.
The remains rested at the Stonehouse Funeral Home until Saturday afternoon when funeral services were conducted by Rev. C.R. Duncan of Grimsby Baptist Church. Interment was in the family plot in Queen's Lawn Cemetery.
Casket bearers were: Keith H. Kidd, Robert C. Montgomery, A.E.Smith, Robert Gibson, Douglas Allan, Jack Randall.
