A native of Grimsby, Sylvester Hand, passed away Saturday, May 13th at the Ontario Hospital, Woodstock. He was in his 71st year, and had been confined to hospital for a lengthy period of time.

He is survived by his wife, the former Annie Grant; three daughters, Mrs. R.S. (Edna) McPherson, Merritton; Mrs. Charles (Evelyn) Kendal, of Hamilton and Mrs. Ruth Bevan, also of Merritton. One other brother, Edward, of Grimsby, and two sisters, Mrs. Harry Talbot, Hamilton, and Mrs. Ellen Doherty, of Windsor, also survive.

Deceased was a lifelong resident of Grimsby, and for years was a carpenter of Shafer Brothers. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Grimsby.

Funeral mass was held on Tuesday morning at 9:30 from St. Joseph's Church, with interment being made in Queen's Lawn Cemetery, Rev. W.J. Murphy officiating.

Casket bearers were Messrs. Ted Hand, Edward Hand, Conrad Gibson, Charles Kendal, Harry Talbot and Charles Seeley.
