Full Text

Miss Elizabeth Anne Hand, a resident of Grimsby for the last 75 years, died at her home on Saturday after a lengthy illness.

In her 88th year, she was born at Oakville on August 14, 1862, a daughter of the late John Hand and Ellen Mary (Doyle) Hand.

Of a retiring nature, Miss Hand derived great pleasure from her music and her flower garden. She was a gold medal pianist, and for many years had been organist at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, at Grimsby.

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Harry Talbot, of Hamilton; and Mrs. Ellen Dougherty, of Windsor; also two brothers, Sylvester and Edward, both of Grimsby.

Funeral mass was held by Rev. Father Murphy in St. Joseph's Church on Monday morning and interment was made in Queen's Lawn Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Harry Talbot, Jr., John Vooges, Charles Seeley, Oliver Shaw, Keith Brown and Ted Hand.
