A pretty wedding took place in Trinity United Church on Friday afternoon, March 24, at 4 o'clock, when Grace E. Johnston, daughter of Mrs. Floyd Johnston of Toronto, became the bride of Ray Paul Oelkuch, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Oelkuch, 62 Ontario Street, Grimsby. The ceremony was performed by the minister, Rev. R.K. Lemkay.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, made a lovely picture in her gown of white satin with long train. Her headdress held a long veil in place and she carried roses and Bouvardia.
Miss Betty Kuntz, aunt of the groom, was maid of honour, and wore a gown of mauve brocaded taffeta, with matching headdress. The bridesmaids were Miss Sally Minor and Miss Eleanora Oelkuch, sister of the groom. The former wore pink brocaded taffeta, and the latter, yellow brocaded nylon, each with matching headdresses and bouquets of roses and tulips.
The groom was attended by Mr. Bill Farrell, Mr. Bill Podawinski and Mr. Bill Fernick, all of Grimsby. The ushers were Mr. Fred Edwards and Mr. Donald Nelson, of Grimsby.
A reception of 72 guests was held afterwards in the Starlite Room at the Innsville Hotel, Winona. The mother of the groom wore a grey suit with blue accessories and a corsage of red roses. The bride and groom left on a short honeymoon to the United States and Toronto.
After their wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Oelkuch will reside in Grimsby.
Out of town guests were present from Toronto, Picton, Hamilton, Fruitland, Winona, Beamsville, Vineland and Smithville.
