Full Text

Edgar Kitchen was called by death with startling suddenness at a late hour Friday night while preparing to retire. He had been in the best of health all evening, but about 11 o'clock suffered a heart attack, from which he failed to rally. The late Mr. Kitchen was in his 65th year, and was born in North Grimsby, the son of the late W.D.Kitchen and the late Margaret Henry. He had followed the occupation of farming all his life and lived on the farm formerly worked by his father, who was born in North Grimsby. In 1892 he married Belle Terryberry and to this union were born 5 children, all of whom survive. In religion deceased was a member of the Presbyterian, and later the United Church of Canada. In politics he was a Conservative. Funeral services were held on Monday at 2:30 and burial took place at Queen's Lawn Cemetery.

Left to mourn his loss are his widow, two sons, Fred at home, and Robert, of Bridgeburg; also three daughters, Mrs. Alan Nelles, of North Grimsby, and the Misses Olive and Marion, at home.

The funeral of the late Edgar Kitchen was held from the family home Monday afternoon and was very largely attended. The great profusion of floral tributes bore mute evidence of the high esteem in which deceased was held. Funeral services at the home and graveside were in charge of Rev. G.W.Wood of Trinity United church, and interment was at Queen's Lawn Cemetery. Following were the pallbearers: T.B.Taylor, A.E. Howard, David Allan, G.M. Beamer, J.H. Bowen and C.W.F. Carpenter.
