Full Text

In the passing of Harry Byford, beloved husband of Mary Ellen Peacock, which occurred on Wednesday, February 22nd, at the family residence, 12 Queen Street, this city loses one of its well-known and highly respected residents. Born in England, he was in his 74th year, and had been a resident of this community for the past 25 years, following the occupation of farming, from which he retired a few years ago.

He had been in failing health for several months and the sympathy of many friends will be extended to the sorrowing family in their bereavement. In religion he was an adherent of St. Thomas Church, his main interest in life being his home and family.

He is survived by his sorrowing widow, three daughters, Mrs. Jas. Botsford of this city, Mrs. John Lawson of Port Colborne, Mrs. Mark Campbell of Port Dalhousie, and 8 sons, Audrey N. and Lloyd of Mount Forest, William L. of Grimsby, Beverly, of Owen Sound, Howard of Merritton, Russell, Ronald and Harry Byford, all of this city. One brother, Ernest Byford of England, 26 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held from the Butler Funeral Home, St. Catharines, on Saturday afternoon, February 25th, following which service was held from St. Thomas' Church. Interment was made in Victoria Lawn Cemetery, St. Catharines.
