Widely known and highly esteemed in this city (St. Catharines) as a citizen, a sportsman and a member of the medical profession, Dr. William J. Chapman, whose death occurred suddenly last week at the family home, 48 Church Street, will be sincerely missed by many friends.
Born at Holland Landing, Ontario, the late Dr. Chapman graduated from Trinity University Medical College in 1904. After graduating he continued his studies in Middlesex and London hospitals, England. Returning to Canada, he practised in Newcastle for a brief time, coming to St. Catharines in 1908, where he has resided ever since.
Highly respected in the medical profession, he was an active member of the medial staff of the St. Catharines General Hospital, where he served as Surgeon-in-Chief. He was past president of the Lincoln County Medical Association.
The field of sports took much of his interest, and he was medical examiner and club doctor of practically every sports organization (to be continued)
