Midland, Aug. 18 - John G. Moffatt, Manager of the Belleville branch of the Union Bank, who was arrested here two weeks ago, charged with theft, died in St. Andrew's Hospital at 1 o'clock this morning. Moffatt took a couple of tablets of bichloride of mercury while consulting a solicitor in his office before going to the station. He became violently ill and was taken to the hospital for treatment, where he suffered severely until the end came this morning. Anticipating the end, a party of friends were here. They accompanied the body back to the former home of Mr. Moffatt.
