Full Text

One of the pioneers of Lincoln county in the person of Mrs. John Perrin, Sr., died at her home in Tintern on Friday, July 18, 1924, in her 91st year. One son and one daughter survive. Mrs. Perrin was born and married in England, coming to Canada over 70 years ago on a sailing vessel that required 2 months to make the trip. Mr. Perrin was a cobbler and came to St. Catharines but there was no business to be found in St. Catharines, so they moved on to Tintern where they have remained since, and Mrs. Perrin would often tell ti as a joke of their leaving what is now a good sized city for what was then and still is only a hamlet.
