On Tuesday, May 24th, Winona lost one of its best beloved and well-known citizens in the passing of Isabel Catherine Pybus, widow of the late R.F.MacFarlane of Loch Sloy. The deceased had not been in good health for the past 2 years but her very sudden death came as a great shock to everyone.
She was born in England 75 years ago, came to Canada in early life and settled in Montreal where she lived for many years. She came to Winona 25 years ago and with her late husband conducted Loch Sloy Rest Home which has been a haven of rest to legions seeking a renewal of health and strength. Her unique personality and her devotion to her guests' comfort endeared her to all those who were fortunate to enjoy her hospitality.
She was a member of the Anglican Church and was deeply interested in the activities of St. John's Church, Winona. She also took an interest in all the organizations that worked for the betterment of the community where she resided.
She is survived by two sisters in England.
The funeral took place on Friday afternoon, May 27th, from St. John's Church, Winona, with Archdeacon Scovil of Grimsby, and Rev. A.E. Onglev, Rector of the church, conducting the service.
Interment took place in Mount Royal Cemetery, Montreal, Saturday, May 28th.
