Robert Clarence Mackie, resident of Grimsby for the last 8 years, and of the district all his life, died at the Hamilton General Hospital on Friday, May 20, after a lingering illness. In his 55th year, he was born in North Grimsby Township on February 27, 1895, a son of the late James and Almina Mackie.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Mackie; three sons, James, Sinclair and Gerald; four daughters, Mrs. Jack Tufford, Grimsby; Mrs. John Geddes, Beamsville; Mrs. Newell Smith, Grimsby Beach, and Holly Carol, at home; one brother, Charles of Fonthill, and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Marlow, North Grimsby, and Mrs. Arthur Cox, Brantford; also 4 grandchildren. A brother, Thomas, died Sunday, May 15th, and was buried on Wednesday.
Mr. Mackie rested at the Stonehouse Funeral Home Grimsby, where funeral service was held on Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. J.P. McLeod officiating. Interment was made in Queen's Lawn Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Merle Martin, Percy Mason, Walter Hipwell, William McIntyre, James Robertson and Farnk Ball.
