In failing health for some time, Mrs. William A. Bowman passed away at her home in North Grimsby Township on Saturday, June 5, 1948, in her 82nd year.
The former Sarah Adeline Cosby, she was born in Caistor Township on July 8, 1866, a daughter of the late Calvin and Lucinda Cosby. She lived nearly all her life in North Grimsby.
Had the deceased lady lived until Christmas, she and her husband would have been married 65 years.
Surviving besides her husband are three daughters and four sons: Mrs. John Sweet (Laura), of Beamsville; Mrs. W.L. Field (Edith), of Vineland; Mrs. C.A. Field (Elsie), of Smithville; Elmer Bowman, of Hespeler; Frank and Ray Bowman of Beamsville, and Oscar Bowman of North Grimsby; also 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. One daughter, Phyllis, predeceased her in 1925.
Funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon, June 9th, from the Merritt Funeral Home, Smithville, with Rev. G.C. Gravenor officiating.
The casket bearers were grandsons of the deceased: Messrs. Ralph Sweet, Harold Sweet, Roy Bowman, Lloyd Bowman, Bill Field and Ray Field.
Interment was made in Queen's Lawn Cemetery, Grimsby.
