Many of the older residents of Toronto, and especially the students who attended the Parkdale Collegiate in the nineties, will have a kindly remembrance of John A. Wismer, who after a long illness passed away Sunday, Feb. 18, 1923, in the Dunn Avenue Hospital. Mr. Wismer was born 76 years ago in Markham township, where he received his early education. He came to Toronto as a student and attended Trinity University, from which he graduated with the degree of M.A. After graduation he taught for a time in the Parliament street public school, and subsequently in Streetsville. When Parkdale Model school was established in the Town of Parkdale, he was selected as principal. When the town became part of the City of Toronto, Mr. Wismer took an active part in the arrangements for the organization of a high school, which is now the Parkdale Collegiate Institute. After the school was organized, Mr. Wismer joined the staff, of which he was a prominent member for 10 years. After resigning from the Parkdale staff, Mr. and Mrs. Wismer resided in Grimsby, where Mrs. Wismer died some 6 years ago. Mr. Wismer is survived by three sons and one daughter: Rev. Ernest L. Wismer, in Bristol, Conn.; Lloyd, in Oakland, California; Carl and Winnifred (Mrs. Alexander), in Detroit. He also leaves three brothers, Wellington, in California; Edward, in Grand Rapids, and W.E., in London, Ont. - Mail and Empire.

The remains were interred in St. Andrew's Anglican cemetery on Tuesday, Feb. 20, the Rev. W.G.O. Thompson of Stoney Creek conducting the services.
