The sudden death occurred from heart failure at Fruitland, on Thursday, Jan. 4, 1923, of Daniel Jacobs, in his 71st year. Deceased had been in his usual good health on the previous evening and sat by the kitchen stove when the remainder of the family retired. Mr. Jacobs had lived at Fruitland for nearly a quarter of a century. Three sons and six daughters survive: Ira, Nelson and Roy, of Fruitland; Mrs. D. Nelson, of South Grimsby; Mrs. L. McDougall, of Fruitland; Mrs. H. Tallman, Mrs. H. Merritt, Mrs. C. Gowland, of Hamilton; and Miss Laura, of St. Catharines; also a brother, Andrew, in Smithville. The funeral took place on Sunday, January 7, to the Fifty Cemetery, the Rev. A.C.Eddy officiating. The pallbearers were four son-in-law: C. Gowland, Hamilton; Levi McDougall, Winona; Delmer Nelson, Smithville; Harry Tallman, Hamilton; and William Jacobs, Winona; William Putman, Vineland.
