Richard Swayze, aged 48 years, was found dead hanging in his barn last Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock, at his home at Port Davidson four miles west of Wellandport. Mr. Swayze had left the house at 2 o'clock and was not seen again until found dead hanging to the rafters. No motive has been found for the suicide and his friends were greatly shocked and surprised to hear of his death. Mr. Swayze and his brother John have lived at Port Davidson for many years having engaged in the pump making business. They were partners in the business and lived together, employing a housekeeper. Mr. John Swayze can describe no motive for his brother taking his life.
