The death occurred on Thursday, Dec. 21, 1922, at his home, on Elm Street, of John Henry Konkle, in his 60th year. Mr. Konkle, who was known as "Blind John", was born in Clinton township, the son of the late Capt. Mathias Konkle and grandson of Lieut.-Col. Adam Koknkle. He had resided in Grimsby for some years and latterly, in spite of his almost total blindness, had been travelling for the broom manufacturing department of the Institute for the Blind. Besides his wife he leaves three daughters and six sons: Mrs. W.H. Juhlke, of Vineland; Mrs. A.A. Sims, Grimsby; Mrs. W. Earle, Montreal; Norman and James of Grimsby; John of Vinemount; Alfred, Frederick, Frank at home; also three sisters and one brother: Mrs. Hennessey, Hamilton; Mrs. John Terryberry, Niagara Falls, N.Y.: Mrs. David Librock, Beamsville; Wm. Konkle, St. Catharines. The funeral took place on Saturday, Dec. 23, to Queen's Lawn Cemetery, the Rev. A.J. Irwin officiating.
