Full Text

The sudden death occurred at his home, in South Grimsby, on Saturday, Sept. 9, 1922, of Israel Wilcox, aged 85 years. Mr. Wilcox was a life-long resident of South Grimsby, having been born on the farm on which he died, and was a son of Isaac Wilcox and Annie Martin, both of whom were pioneers in the district. He was a member of Smithville Presbyterian Church, and a Liberal in politics. Besides his wife he leaves three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Emory U. Patterson of Grimsby, Mrs. William Tufford of Beamsville, Miss Gertrude at home, Thompson at home, and Elwood of The Thirty. There are also three sisters, Mrs. Jacob Terryberry of North Grimsby, Mrs. Nathan Field of Smithville, and Mrs. Solomon Wardell of St. Catharines. The funeral took place on Tuesday, September 12th, to Queen's Lawn Cemetery, Grimsby, the Rev. John Radford, of Smithville, officiating. The pall-bearers were: Albert Book, E.F. Durham, Isaac Field, J.E. Martin, E.W. Murgatroyd, and John Thompson of Hamilton.
