Full Text

There was a death in Mil;ton on Monday, August 7th of interest to residents of Grimsby, when Miss Mary Chamberlain, a well known lady, passed away after a rather lengthy illness and while in her 86th year. Miss Chamberlain was born on the old homestead, north of Oakville, being a daughter of the late Mr. Milo Chamberlain, who was one of the pioneer physicians of the township and among the early settlers. The doctor practiced among the pioneers of the district and passed away over 40 years ago. Miss Chamberlain remained on the homestead until about 20 years ago, when she removed to Milton and made her home there, being a staunch member of the Methodist church and a collector for the Missionary Society for 25 years. She took a great interest in the horticultural society and won prizes when 84 years old. The funeral was on Thursday afternoon last, with interment in the Munn's Cemetery, when many friends were present. Miss Chamberlain is survived by two brothers, William Chamberlain of Detroit and Joel Chamberlain of Oakville, and two sisters, Mrs. G.W. Sibbald, of Grimsby and Mrs. Kennedy, of Lockport, N.Y.
