He returned again to his farm on the riverside, giving attention to dairy and stock. The last few years he was a well known fruit grower in Grimsby East. In his home township he was president of the Agricultural Society and a Director. He was always an ardent worker for the Conservative party. His last illness was short, leaving home in Caledonia on Thursday a.m. in fairly good health, he was taken ill Friday at Grimsby with pneumonia and was doing favorably when on Wednesday, Dec. 14th he took cerebral hemorrhage and he became unconscious and passed to the great beyond. In early manhood he married Ellen Hull Hoyt, who predeceased him. On March 27, 1889, he married Mary Quinsey of Seneca Township. He leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife and three sons, Wilfred of Landis, Sask., Lesley and Russell at home; two brothers, William of Minneapolis, Robert of Toronto, and one sister, Mrs. J. Fawell, Saskatchewan. He was the fourth member of his father's family laid to rest in the last two years. He was an affectionate husband, a loving father and a good neighbor.
