Description
Full Text

William Luke Davies, a comparatively recent arrival in Grimsby, died at his home here on Tuesday morning, November 29, 1921, in his 64th year. The late Mr. Davies was a native of Wales, but came across the sea when 14 years of age. He had spent the greater part of his life in Detroit, where he was educated and entered the wholesale drug business, which he followed for a long time, later becoming president of the Acme White Lead and Color Works of Detroit. He came to Grimsby in April of this year and built a beautiful home on the corner of Main and Robinson Streets, into which they had moved only a few weeks ago. He was stricken with pneumonia last week and rapidly sank. Though Mr. Davies was not widely known in Grimsby, Mrs. Davies (nee Susie Dugall, of Windsor) has a host of friends, having lived here at one time and is a sister of Mrs. Norman Nelles. Besides Mrs. Davies, there remains one daughter, Mrs. J.L. Stockard of Detroit, a sister, Mrs. Neale of Detroit, and a brother Daniel of New York. The only son, Llewellyn, was killed in France in the war. Mr. Davies was a member of Oriental Lodge, No. 240 A.F. and A.M. Detroit, and members of the A. F. and A.M. of Grimsby will attend the funeral, which will take place from his late home to Queen's Lawn Cemetery on Thursday, December 1, services being held at the house at 2:30 p.m.
