Niagara Falls, Ont., June 9 - The funeral of Ontario A. Nelles will be held at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon from his late home, 5 Ellis Street, to Fairview Cemetery. The Rev. Canon Gordon, rector of Christ Church, will officiate. Mr. Nelles died on a trolley car between this city and Queenston yesterday. Mr. Nelles, who was 78 years old, was one of the oldest citizens of Niagara Falls. He had lived here for almost half a century. He took a deep interest in civic affairs. He was the son of the late John A. Nelles of Grimsby, the family being among the Niagara frontier pioneers. Mr. Nelles was a well known railroad man, having been in the employ of the Great Northwestern Railway as a conductor for many years. Later he was employed on the International Railway as a conductor and ticket agent and for the past 10 years has been on the Queen Victoria Park police force. Mr. Nelles was a member of Clifton Lodge, No. 254, A.F. and A.M. He was also an Oddfellow. He had served on the town council and was a member of the Collegiate Institute board at the time of his death. He was a member of Christ Church and served as a church warden for several years. Besides his wife, Mr. Nelles leaves two daughters, Miss Helen at home, and Mrs. George C. Hoshal, of Toronto; two sisters, Mrs. William Manson of Grimsby, and Mrs. Charles Murray of Chicago. His only brother, James W.G. Nelles, predeceased him two years ago. The city flag is at half mast. The Masonic Lodge will attend the funeral in a body. - Niagara Falls Gazette
