One of Winona's old timers in the person of Francis Coyne King died at his home there on Friday, April 15, 1921, after a few days' illness of pneumonia. Constant medical attention and the ministration of his niece, Miss Beatrice King, a trained nurse of Hamilton, being unavailing. "Francy", as he was popularly known, was born on the old King homestead near the lake at Winona on May 20, 1856, and was the 7th son of a family of 8 boys of Hugh King and Hannah Morden, and a grandson of Obediah King, a brother-in-law to the Hon. John Wilson, both U.E.L. Loyalists. With the exception of a few years spent in the west, the late Mr. King had resided in Winona all his life and was the last survivor of the family. There remains to mourn his demise several nephews and nieces, Ernest King of Port Hope, the Misses Clara and Beatrice A. King and Miss Jenny Glenny of Hamilton, George King of Niagara Falls. The funeral took place on Sunday, April 17, to St. John's Anglican Church, Winona, where a sermon was preached by the Rev. H.A. West, interment being in the Fifty Cemetery...
