Some 30 years ago, Leslie H. Russ, fifth son of the late James Russ, and brother to W.B. and J.D. Russ of Grimsby, left here to try his fortunes in Pennsylvania. He went to college for a while, and worked in various lines of business until he saw a good opening in the city of Bradford, Pa., in the dry goods line. How well he has succeeded is shown by the following short excerpts from a two-column article in the Bradford Evening Star of March 15. The accompanying photo of Mr. Russ was also published at the same time and has been loaned to the Independent: "About 100 representative business folk, including women and men, people all interested in the commercial affairs of the city and therefore very important citizens, gathered at the YMCA building last evening to attend the annual banquet and meeting of the Bradford Business Men's Association. The session was a decided success in every respect from beginning to end. The following new officers were elected during the business session after the addresses: L.H. Russ, President...Mr. Russ, the new president, defeated Mr. Day in a close contest.
