A well known figure to many residents of Grimsby and vicinity passed away in the person of Francis Hannigan (Frank), who died at his home corner of Cross and Pine Streets, Dunnville, on Monday, February 21, 1921. The late Mr. Hannigan was born in Fenwick in 1842, being in his 79th year, but spent many years of his life in Caistor and Canboro Townships. He was the eldest son of James Hannigan, one of the pioneers of Welland County, and second in a family of three daughters and five sons. Surviving are three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. John Green of Caistorville, Mrs. John Lymburner, Wellandport, Mrs. John Garrison, North Dakota, James of Vineland and Thomas of Hamilton. Of his own family there survive four sons and one daughter, Frank of Jordan, Ellis of Caistorville, Arthur and Curtis of Dunnville, and Mrs. John Hannigan of Canboro. The funeral took place on Wednesday, Feb. 23 from his home in Dunnville, interment following at Abingdon Cemetery.
