Mr. James Freure passed away at Wellandport at the ripe age of 82. He had been confined to his bed but about three weeks. He was born in St. Catharines. His parents moved from here to a farm about four miles from Niagara Falls where he spent some of his boyhood years. From there they went to Gainsboro township, settling near Wellandport where he spent the rest of his life. He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor Julian, 14 years, and by his only daughter, Sarah, who was killed by a train just west of Fenwick 7 years ago. Funeral took place from the home of his youngest son, Chester. The sermon was preached by Rev. Mr. Knight in the Methodist Church, Wellandport. Interment in Dawdy's Cemetery, Pelham. He is survived by a brother and sister at Niagara Falls, and three sons, Samuel of Beamsville, Thomas and Chester of Wellandport, to mourn the loss of a loving father.
