The citizens of Grimsby and North Grimsby were shocked on Monday, Jan. 8th, to learn of the very sudden death of Mr. John H. Walker, well-known farmer and fruit grower of the Township of North Grimsby. The deceased gentleman had a very severe illness in 1915, and, although he recovered sufficiently to go about and enjoy very good health, he never gained his usual strength. A short time before his death, he took sick and was troubled greatly with weakness. On Monday morning he was attacked with a spell of weakness during which he passed away. Deceased was a member of the Walker family, who were among the pioneers of North Grimsby, and was born on the farm where he died, having lived on it all his life. He had attained the age of 69 years. He was a member of a large family, his father being the late John Walker, and his surviving brothers and sisters being William, of London, Ont.; Robert, of Regina, Sask.; Mrs. Withinton, of Philadelphia, Pa.; Mrs. Solon Woolverton, of London, Ont.; and Mrs. W. Drommond, of Waterdown,Ont. He is also survived by one son, Capt. Harry Walker, and one daughter, Miss Doris, both at home, and his widow, who previous to her marriage was Alice Carpenter, the daughter of the late Joseph Carpenter of Winona. The late John H. Walker took a keen interest in politics and municipal affairs and sat in the Council of North Grimsby some years ago. He was a Conservative in politics and an Episcopalian in religion. The funeral is taking place this afternoon to St. Andrew's Church Cemetery, services being conducted by the rector, Rev. J. Allan Ballard.
