Full Text

One of North Grimsby's respected citizens, James Allan, passed on Saturday, Jan. 16, 1926, in his 74th year, after a rather long illness. Mr. Allan was born in Scotland, and came to Canada with his parents when a lad, they taking up land and settling in Halton County. Over 40 years ago the family moved to North Grimsby, where the deceased engaged in mixed farming. He was of a retiring nature and highly respected all through the district. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a staunch Conservative. He leaves to mourn his loss, a loving wife, one sister, Mrs. Lanaway, of Chicago, and two brothers, David, Postmaster at Grimsby, and Thomas W., clerk of North Grimsby. The funeral was held on Monday from his late home and was largely attended. Rev. L.H. Curry, former pastor of St. John's Presbyterian Church, but now of Toronto, had charge of the services at the house and grave. The pallbearers were W. Alvin Patterson, William Montgomery, John Budge, Murray B. Smith, Gordon R. Carpenter and John Smith. Interment was made at Queen's Lawn Cemetery.
