One of North Grimsby's most esteemed citizens passed away on Sunday, Dec. 10, 1916, in the person of Mr. Alonzo Louks, for many years a highly respected citizen of Grimsby and North Grimsby. For many years the deceased gentleman has been following the occupation of fruit and vegetable grower. Up to within a week of his death he had enjoyed his usual health. A brief illness of typhoid fever proved fatal. He had attained the age of 68 years. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon to Queen's Lawn Cemetery, and was attended by a large number of his Masonic brethren, friends and neighbors. Masonic services were conducted at the graveside. Services at the house and in the cemetery were conducted by the Rev. Mr. McLaughlin of the Methodist Church. Six Masonic brethren acted as pallbearers.He is survived by two sons, Austin at home and Stanley overseas, and one adopted son, Caleb, of Smiths Falls, and two daughters, Mrs. William Fisher of Grimsby, and Mrs. William Gallagher of Hamilton.
