Tapleytown - The funeral of Mrs. Mary Land who died at the residence of her son, Mr. Wm. Land, of this place on Saturday morning, April 1st, was largely attended on Monday afternoon, April 3rd. After a short service at the house, the funeral cortege proceeded to the Tweedside Methodist Church, where a full service was conducted by the pastor, Rev. G.L. Guinn, assisted by Rev. G.M. Thompson, of St. Georges Church...Mrs. Land, who had reached the advanced age of 95 years, was highly esteemed by many friends here and at Grimsby where she had resided for a number of years...She is survived by five sons, Robert of Grimsby; John of Buffalo; Hamilton of Detroit; Stephen of Erie, Pa., and William with whom she had been living and where she will be especially much missed; also one sister, Mrs. Hamilton Jacobs of Tweedside, and three brothers, Robert Grassie of British Columbia; George of Blackheath, and Peter of Vancouver, B.C. Her husband, Mr. John Land, predeceased her a number of years ago. The pallbearers were: Messrs. Stephen Tweedle, Wm. Tweedle, Wm. Hildreth, Samuel Hildreth, Francis Hildreth and Delbert Horning. Interment took place at Tweedside Church Cemetery.
