Niagara Falls, Ont., July 14 - Word was received here today of the death in action of Lieut. John Bottomley of this city, in German East Africa. No details were given. Bottomley, who for several years was secretary of the municipal lighting plant, left for the front with the 44th Regt., first Canadian contingent. At Salisbury Plains he was made paymaster, leaving later for East Africa. He was connected with the flying column there. He is survived by his wife who resides here.
