Mr. John e. Wright, trainer and jockey of Syracuse, N.Y., but for many years engaged with Mr. N.R. Sutherland of Grimsby, passed away at Mr. Sutherland's home, on Robinson St. South, on Friday, April 2, after a brief illness, at the age of 55 years. Mr. Wright, who was a very quiet retiring man , was known only to a small circle of acquaintances at Grimsby, but all who knew him appreciated him on account of his quiet pleasant manners and his ability as a horseman. He was a good jockey and trainer and for many years assisted Mr. Sutherland in driving his four horse Roman chariot races. During his illness, he was nursed at Mr. Sutherland's home by his niece, Miss Edith May Johnson, and his friend, Geo, Bowman, both of Syracuse, N.Y. After services at the house at 5:30 on Saturday afternoon, by the Rev. J. Allan Ballard, the remains were taken to Jordan, N.Y.where they were buried with Masonic honors.
