St. Catharines, Feb. 9 - The Niagara fruit belt is in mourning tonight over the sudden death of Robert Thompson, who this morning expired in a car of the Niagara, St. Catharines & Toronto Railway, which he boarded at his home in Grantham Township to go to Grimsby to arrange for a convention of the Niagara Fruit Growers, which association he was largely instrumental in forming, and for which he has since been an ardent worker. The car was stopped at the first doctor's office, where Mr. Thompson was pronounced dead...He was born in Ballahinch, County Down, Ireland, 59 years ago, and arrived in this district with his parents on his first birthday...His wife and one son survive, also two brothers and four sisters.
