Tapleytown - A large number of relatives and friends gathered at the home of Lt. Col. W.H. Ptolemy, Rosemount Farm, Stoney Creek, to pay their last tribute of respect to his aunt, Miss Jessie Ptolemy, who was greatly honored and loved by both relatives and friends. Aunt Jessie, as she was best known by her many friends, was of a kind, loving, hospitable disposition, always ready to help the needy and poor, besides giving a helping hand to the sick and suffering. Miss Ptolemy was the youngest of a family of seven sons and two daughters of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Ptolemy of Ayrshire, Scotland. She was in the 76th year of her age and had been a lifelong member of Cheynes Presbyterian Church, Saltfleet, many years of her younger life a Sabbath school teacher and a valued member of the Ladies Aid Society. After leaving the family home in Binbrook, to retire with her late brother Charles to their comfortable home on the town-line in Saltfleet, she remained there until about years [sic] ago, when she went to make her home with her nephew, Lt.-Col. W.H. Ptolemy, and where she devoted the whole of her time to the care of his family,by whom she will be greatly missed. After a short service at the house, by the Rev. C.H Cooke, the funeral cortege wended its way to Christ Church, Woodburn, where interment took place, after which a very impressive service was held in the church by Rev. C.H. Cooke, assisted by Mr. Thompson. The pallbearers were: Messrs. Allan Greeve, Albert Pottruff, Wm. Cranston, Wm. Mitchell, Alex Tweedle and Addison Philip.
