Mrs. Esther Josephine Beseau Scott, a descendent of some of the early settlers of Ontario, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William S. Meeker, 92 Ottawa Street South, Hamilton, on Thursday afternoon after a long illness. She was born at Uxbridge, Ontario, 76 years ago and had resided in Hamilton for the last 22 years. Her great-grandfather came to Canada in 1798 with the French Royalists under the leadership of Count de Puisaye, who received grants of land at Oak Ridges in the Township of Whitchurch. On the maternal side she is a descendant of Gerneral Sir Isaac Brock's grandmother ... Her husband William Scott predeceased her 30 years ago. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. (Dr.) Leroy Henry, Grimsby, Mrs. Zune (June?) Corbett, Dawson, Yukon, Mrs. William Armstrong Wells, B.C. and Mrs. William Meeker of Hamilton. Two sisters, Mrs. Herbert Hammond, Toronto and Mrs. Richard Scott, Owen Sound, also three grandchildren.
