After a lingering illness, Alice Electa Nelson, wife of Levi Nelson of Smithville, died at the Devonia Nursing Home, Fonthill, on Tuesday, in her 76th year. Born in Caistor township, a daughter of the late William and Rachel Hitchcock, she lived there until she came to reside in Smithville in 1920. She was an adherent of the United Church. She is survived by her husband; three sons, Ira, Leland and Roy Nelson, of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; one daughter, Mrs. Harry Cartner of Grimsby; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Hagerman, Warsaw, N.Y.; and Mrs. Iva Thomas, St. Catharines; one brother, Daniel Hitchcock, Caistor township, and ten grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Merritt Funeral Home, Smithville, on Thursday afternoon. Interment was made in Union Cemetery.
