Death by lightning visited Edwin James Canner, an employee on the E.D. Smith farm near Jordan Station at 5 p.m. Friday. Very little rain was falling at the time, not sufficient to prevent work from proceeding in the field. The unfortunate man was one of those thus engaged. A vivid flash of lightning which startled the neighbourhood was follow by the discovery of the prostrate body of Canner in the field. Dr. Addy was summoned but life was found to be extinct. The deceased, who was 24 years of age, and unmarried, was a native of Northampton, Eng. Coming to this country 8 years ago, he located at Jordan Station, and had been employed by Mr. Smith during the greater part of that time. The funeral took place to Beamsville cemetery on Sunday.
