Ira E. Irvine, of Oak Street, Grimsby, died at the Bonney Nursing Home, Grimsby, Thursday morning after being in poor health for some time. He was 84 years old. He was born in Hamilton, the eldest son of the late Edward Irvine and Martha Merritt. In 1903 he married Sarah Jane Madden, who died in July 1953. Mr. Irvine farmed in the Smithville and Grimsby area most of his life. He was a member of Trinity United Church, Grimsby. Surviving are two brothers, Norman Irvine, of Oak Street, Grimsby; and Arthur Irvine, of Woodstock; one sister, Mrs. Emma Shirton, Smithville. Funeral service was conducted on Saturday, from the Book Funeral Home, Smithville by Rev. R.K. Lemkay. Burial was made in Queen's Lawn Cemetery, Grimsby. Casket bearers were Messrs. J.J.H. Taylor, Frank Anderson, Gordon Cole, Lorne Hill, Edward Maybe and Leslie Shirton.
