Mrs. David Girvin, of Dunnganon, Ontario, mother of Mr. J. C. Pentland, Livingston Avenue, Grimsby recently attained the great age of 94 years and still enjoys good health, despite her advanced years ... Mary Ann Stuart, which was her maiden name, was the second eldest of a family of 11 sons and daughters of Mr. and Mrs. James Stuart who in November 1841 moved from Goderich to take up farming in the wilderness at Nile. ... In this shanty the following year, on Feb. 5th, 1842, Mary Ann was born, and for 94 years continuously, she has been a resident of this same community. ... [description of father's ministry as a lay minister in the Methodist Church around Auburn] .. . At the age of 21, in March 1863 Mary Ann was married to Robert Pentland, a blacksmith, and Mr. and Mrs. Pentland settled in Dungannon, where a family of five children was born, the eldest being James Cullen Pentland of Grimsby. Some years after the death of her husband, Robert Pentland, she was married to David Girvin, who has also passed away. ...
