Distinguished soldier, veteran of three campaigns and leader in many fields of public interest, Brig. Gen. Charles M. Nelles C.M.G., V.D., died last week at the Cottage Hospital, Niagara on the Lake. His only surviving son, Commodore Percy W. Nelles, Ottawa, [?]- officer of the Canadian Navy has sailed from England where he has been attending the London Naval Conference. ... Brig. Gen. Nelles, 72 years of age suffered a heart attack two weeks ago. Born near Cayuga at Nelles Corners, Gen. Nelles began his military career when he joined the Royal Canadian Dragoons in 1896, and served with Canadian troops in South Africa in the Boer War. ...
